Five years ago, Jack Driscoll was a 2-star recruit in Connecticut. Saturday, he became an NFL player bound for Philadelphia.

Driscoll was taken with the 145th overall pick in the fourth round of the draft by the Eagles, becoming the first Auburn offensive lineman taken, before left tackle Prince Tega Wanogho.

Driscoll committed to Massachusetts out of Madison, Conn., as a lowly rated offensive tackle prospect with only three offers from UMass, Army and Brown.

After a redshirt year, though, Driscoll quickly became a dominating lineman for the Minutemen, starting his redshirt freshman and sophomore seasons — the latter of which was a record-setting offensive season for the program.

Driscoll started another two seasons at right tackle for Auburn after transferring into Gus Malzahn's program in 2018.

"If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely pick Auburn again," Driscoll said at Auburn's pro day in March.

The 6-foot-5, 306-pounder was one of nine NFL combine invites for Auburn two months ago, and he may have had the best showing of that group. His 40-yard dash time was fourth among offensive linemen; his vertical jump was 18th of 47 linemen; and his broad jump was fifth in the position group.

At the combine, Driscoll had discussions with NFL personnel about possibly playing guard and center, and he went through drills snapping the ball at pro day.

"Versatility, but consistency," Driscoll said at pro day of what he'd bring to an NFL franchise. "I'm going to be the same every day. I'm not going to be one of those guys that's up and down and a roller coaster.

"... I'm trying to be a low-maintenance guy. I'm trying to be a guy coaches don't have to worry about plays — I do my responsibilities, I help the younger guys out, I'm trying to be a team player and a leader. Ultimately I think that adds value."
