AUBURN | No targets in 41 snaps at LSU. That can be frustrating for any wide receiver, but Auburn sophomore Nate Craig-Myers seems to be taking it all in stride.
“I feel good,” said Craig-Myers when asked about the lack off passes thrown his way. “We spread the ball a lot to different receivers. We probably spread the ball more than any other team in the country.
“I just do what I can for the team and when my number is called, you got to make a play.”
Craig-Myers has a point about spreading the ball around, at least behind Ryan Davis, who is tied for second in the SEC with 33 receptions. Six other wideouts have six or more receptions including Craig-Myers, who has eight for 158 yards and one touchdown.
So what does Craig-Myers do when he’s not catching passes? His position coach asks him the same question just about every day.
"Coach (Kodi) Burns tells us a lot that when you don't get the ball, what are you doing? When I don't have the ball, whether it's blocking or running my guy off, I just have to make the most out of it,” Craig-Myers said.
No. 21 Auburn plays at Arkansas this Saturday, looking to rebound after a disappointing 27-23 loss at LSU. AU led 20-0 early in the second quarter.
“When you lose a game like that, everybody is going to have doubts in their head, everybody is going to be upset. We just have to move on,” Craig-Myers said.
The process of moving on will get underway Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
“I think everybody is still fired up,” Craig-Myers said. “We still have our goals intact and we still control our own destiny. Everybody is ready to get out there.”
