Auburn adds A-Day commitment
AUBURN | Brooks offensive guard Kameron Stutts couldn’t wait. The three-star recruit from Killen didn’t want to prolong it anymore.
Stutts decided he wanted to play at Auburn, so he announced his choice Saturday prior to the Tigers’ A-Day game.
“I decided on the way up here that I was ready to commit,” Stutts said. “The last time I came up here I said that whenever you go somewhere, you can feel it that’s the place for you to be. I knew when I came here.”
Stutts visited Auburn March 7 and left with the Tigers high on his list of favorites. He decided during a four-hour drive to Auburn Saturday morning that Auburn was his only favorite.
“I was just ready,” Stutts said. “It’s a great place with great people. It’s an awesome atmosphere with great fans. I really enjoy it.”
Stutts informed Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand during a telephone conversation. He let Gus Malzahn in on the news after arriving at Auburn for A-Day.
“I told Coach Hand that I was ready,” Stutts said. “And then I told Coach Malzahn when I got here and he ran in and gave me a big hug.”
Hand and Malzahn both were instrumental in Stutts’ decision.
“The coaches are all really personable,” Stutts said. “They are good people. They are friendly. They are like everyone else.”
Stutts chose Auburn after considering offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Missouri and Virginia Tech, among others. He is the second offensive guard to commit to Auburn, joining Jalil Irvin from Stephenson in Stone Mountain, Ga.
“I might still go and check out some stuff, but I’m not changing,” Stutts said. “I’m 100-percent committed.”
Stutts, who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 320 pounds, is the Tigers’ fourth commitment in the 2018 class, joining Irvin, running back Shaun Shivers and quarterback Joey Gatewood.
