Griffin shines at Auburn camp

AUBURN | One of the standouts at Auburn’s OL/DL camp was Adrian Griffin.

The center/offensive guard from Fairfield (Ala.) High earned an upperclassman MVP award after putting on a show during 1-on-1’s against the defensive line.

“It was very fun. A high energy camp,” said Griffin. “There were a bunch of young guys who just wanted to work and wanted to be here and just wanted to be better. I was impressed with how the atmosphere here was. It was just great going through these drills and learning new stuff. They kept us on our toes.”

Griffin, 6-foot-4 and 301 pounds, already has a dozen offers including Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Maryland, Louisville, MTSU and UAB.

Not surprisingly, it would mean a lot to add Auburn to that list.

“My granddad, he’s a big Auburn fan, so just for him to realize his grandson was able to come out here and work as an o-linemen and get the MVP as an o-lineman, that means to much to him. He wanted me to go to this camp so bad,” said Griffin.

“My whole family is an Auburn family so just seeing them take their time and talk to me is very important to me. I’m really going to embrace that and come down here every chance I get.”

Griffin is making the rounds this summer. He already attended camps at Alabama and Ole Miss and is planning trips to Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Michigan State and Michigan.

“I know I’m going to be the best at every camp. I’m going to come out there and I’m going to compete everyday,” said Griffin. “I know I’ve got to compete. It ain’t no stop. This is my last time so I want to come out here and prove to the coaches that I can play for them.”

Griffin also played defensive line last season but is making the transition to be a full-time offensive lineman as a senior.

“I’m starting my offensive journey. Last year, I did defensive line but I’ve realized offensive line is it. I’m probably going to be 100 percent offensive line now,” he said.

When it comes to recruiting, Griffin is pretty wide open and in no hurry to narrow his list.

“It’s wide open. I’m open to anybody that’s willing to take me. I just want to find somewhere that’s home,” he said.
