4-star OT visits Auburn

AUBURN | It’s hard for Marcus Jenkins, also known as “Tank,” to be specific in describing what stands out to him about Auburn.

“It's just Auburn,” Jenkins said. “It's just a good school to go to.”

Jenkins, a four-star offensive tackle from Park Crossing, visited Auburn Jan. 28 for Junior Day. He was one of approximately 35 recruits in attendance. The visitors toured Auburn’s campus and facilities and met with academic advisors.

Jenkins also worked in a meeting with Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand.

“He's cool,” Jenkins said of Hand. “He's a cool offensive line coach. It's the way he talks with you and the way he acts with you. He told me to keep grinding and don't let everything get to my head.”

Jenkins, who is ranked the No. 11 offensive tackle in the 2018 class, has an offer from Auburn. He also has more than 20 other offers, including ones from Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Clemson, LSU, Michigan and Oklahoma.

Jenkins already is one of the state’s most heavily-recruited juniors, and that’s unlikely to change throughout the spring and summer. He does hope to help slow the process by narrowing his list.

“I don't know when it will happen,” Jenkins said. “But it will be soon.”

Rivals ranks Jenkins, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 325 pounds, the No. 111 overall player in 2018 and No. 4 in Alabama.
