AUBURN | Noah Igbinoghene on Saturday was happy to hear Chip Lindsey would be Auburn’s new offensive coordinator, and understandably so.

Igbinoghene is a wide receiver. He likes to catch passes. And he’s committed to the Tigers.

“I was excited,” Igbinoghene said. “I like it. (Lindsey) throws the ball, and I’m a wide receiver so that’s what I like (an offense) to do.”

Igbinoghene, who had 55 receptions for 712 yards as a senior at Hewitt-Trussville, was in Auburn on an official visit when he learned the news. He later met and spoke with Lindsey for the first time, which made Igbinoghene appreciate the hire even more.

“I really got to know him and know who he is, and I like him,” Igbinoghene said. “He was a very nice guy. You can see he cares about all of us and loves all of us. I really like that.”

Igbinoghene also met extensively with wide receivers coach Kodi Burns during the visit. Burns’ experience as a player at Auburn — he was a wide receiver on Auburn’s 2010 national championship team — is something that stands out to Igbinoghene.

“(Burns) played here and I’m going to do what he did and has done already,” Igbinoghene said. “The fact that he’s coaching me and has already been through it, I just love everything about him. I can’t wait to be coached by him.”

Igbinoghene also is anxious to play again with some of his fellow commitments. He played in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game with Tadarian Moultry, Malcolm Askew, K.J. Britt and Jordan Peters.

“It was great because I got to know all of them and became family with them,” Igbinoghene said. “I just love them all. They are good friends of mine and I can’t wait to be down here with them.”

Oregon tried to get into the mix last week after extending an offer, but Igbinoghene is solid to Auburn.

“This is where I want to go. This is where I want to be,” he said. “I’m 110 percent committed here.”

Igbinoghene, who stands six feet tall and weighs 190 pounds, also plans to run track at Auburn.

Rivals ranks him the No. 14 player in Alabama and No. 52 wide receiver in the 2017 class.
