AUBURN | No. 25 Auburn dominated Ohio State at the plate and on the mound.

The Tigers pounded out 13 hits and Samuel Dutton struck out a career-high nine in a 13-0 run-rule win over the Buckeyes in seven innings Friday afternoon in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series in Arlington, Texas.

“Just a clean game,” AU coach Butch Thompson told the Auburn Network. “Sam Dutton executed a masterful plan. The offense, that’s five or six games now where they’re almost competing within themselves who can have the most competitive at-bats.”

Auburn improves to 9-1 on the season with its third run-rule win of the season.

Dutton (2-1) was electric allowing just two hits and no walks in 6.0 innings. He retired the final 10 batters he faced. The senior right-hander worked his off-speed pitches early in the count before closing out the OSU hitters with fastballs.

“I just kinda had that plan and went out there and executed it,” Dutton told the Auburn Network. “The results showed.”

Ryan Hetzler threw a perfect ninth to close out the win.

The Tigers exploded for eight runs in the second inning. OSU starter Drew Erdmann walked five in the inning with the big blow coming on a bases-loaded double by Cooper McMurray to drive in three.

“It was a huge inning for us,” McMurray told the Auburn Network. “Credit my teammates for getting on base before me. I was just looking for a fastball and he threw one 0-0 and I was able to put a good swing on it.”

McMurray finished 2 of 5 with three RBI and Chase Fralick was 3 of 4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Eric Snow and Cade Belyeu had two hits apiece while Ike Irish had two RBI.

Deric Fabian was 1 of 2 with three runs scored and one RBI and Bub Terrell 1 of 1 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Auburn plays No. 8 Oregon State Saturday at 6 p.m. CT and Baylor Sunday at 3 p.m. Both games will be streamed on FloCollege.
