Auburn’s freshmen delivered in a Lone Star sweep.

Christian Chatterton and Jackson Sanders allowed one run in seven innings combined while Bub Terrell, Chris Rembert and Chase Fralick combined for five hits and three RBI to lead the 25th-ranked Tigers to a 7-4 win over Baylor at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

All five are part of a 2024 class that ranked in the top five nationally.

“I think it puts some confidence under our belt,” Fralick told the Auburn Network. “We’ve been playing with a chip on our shoulder all season. Kinda with that underdog mindset.

“We’ve been going out there trying to prove what we all know we can do. And now the country and the baseball world kinda sees it.”

Chatterton (1-0) was electric striking out a career-high nine batters to earn his first college win. He allowed one run, a solo home run to the leadoff batter in the first inning, on two hits and two walks.

“I had my changeup and my curveball working. It’s a good night when I have both of those,” Chatterton told the Auburn Network.

Sanders threw 2.0 shutout innings with three hits, no walks and one strikeout.

Fralick was 3 of 4 with two RBI, including two-out, RBI-singles in the second and fifth. Terrell was 2 of 4 with a run scored and Rembert 0 of 2 with an RBI on a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded in the third.

Auburn, which improved to 11-1 with its 10th consecutive win, won all three games in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series, beating Ohio State Friday and No. 8 Oregon State Saturday.

"We'll learn a ton from this weekend," AU coach Butch Thompson told the Auburn Network. “These first-year players are learning a lot each and every day.”

AU scattered 11 hits including 10 singles and a two-run home run by Cade Belyeu in the eighth. Cooper McMurray was 1 of 2 with three runs scored and Bristol Carter 2 of 4 with one RBI.

Dylan Watts allowed two runs on three hits and a walk in the eighth and Ryan Hetzler allowed an unearned run in the ninth.

Auburn plays UAB at Regions Field in Birmingham Tuesday night at 6 p.m. CT.
