AUBURN, Ala. | Each week the AuburnSports.com staff make their predictions on Auburn and top college football games from around the country.
WHAT THEY THINK:
Allie Davison: Auburn 35-17. San Jose State is by no means an automatic win for Auburn. No one is for that matter. Still, I think the Tigers have enough talent on the roster to get their third win of the season and break a two-game losing streak. Sean White, Peyton Barber and Kerryon Johnson have been the brightest spots for Auburn - and they'll continue to carry the offense. There is no question that Barber is the stating running back. The defense will get good reps, and the young freshman will be able to work out the kinks especially in the secondary. This game comes at a perfect time for Auburn, and it will be an opportunity to get things right before heading into a bye weekend.
Jay G. Tate: Auburn 31-14. Auburn didn't win last week, but I saw some encouraging signs. The defense was hittin' and the offense was pacin', which is what good Auburn teams do. Using Sean White means the Tigers must start anew with a learning curve, but he may be able to make up ground quickly. I don't think this SJSU team is up to this task. I see Auburn starting slowly, finding its way during the second quarter and putting this game away during the third quarter. The real question is this: Will Sean White tax the Spartans beyond 20 yards? His ability to throw deep balls effectively will affect what this team can do against this upcoming SEC gauntlet.
Bryan Matthews: Auburn 27-21. Last year, Auburn beat the Spartans 59-13 piling up 493 yards of total offense including 358 on the ground, holding SJSU to 65 rushing yards and snagging three interceptions. I'm expecting a much tougher game Saturday. Yes, Auburn showed improvement against Mississippi State last week but it was still a 17-9 loss at home to a team that was picked to finish dead last in the SEC West. I'm Missouri on this team and this offense until I see better results on the field.
Jeffrey Lee: Auburn 38-20. Al Borges is good for a couple of touchdowns and a field goal or two. He has a running back (Tyler Ervin) with more rushing yards in four games than Leonard Fournette. Points will be scored. Auburn's offense will find a way to score more of them. Somehow.
