Peterson, family enjoy family-oriented Big Cat

AUBURN | Colquitt County (Ga.) four-star linebacker JJ Peterson’s visit to Auburn Saturday solidified the Tigers in his top two.

Peterson, the No. 3 outside linebacker in the 2018 class, enjoyed Big Cat with members of his family, including his infant daughter, Allie.

“It was good because it was more like a family thing,” Peterson said. “It was fun.”

Peterson was one of 33 recruits in Auburn for the Tigers’ ninth-annual Big Cat event.

“I had a good time,” Peterson said. “I liked the pie-eating contest.”

Peterson’s visit to Auburn came two days after an overnight trip to Alabama. The rival-SEC schools make up Peterson’s top two.

“Auburn is No. 2 behind Bama,” Peterson said. “I feel good about those two.”

Peterson spent a lot of time Saturday with Auburn linebackers coach Travis Williams. The Tigers’ second-year coach is a big reason Peterson is high on Auburn.

“I love the guy,” Peterson said. “I can’t help it. I love him.”

Peterson plans to visit Auburn and meet with Williams at least one more time before the fall.

“I’ll be back for the 7-on-7 camp this summer,” Peterson said. “I love it at Auburn.”

Rivals ranks Peterson No. 52 in the Rivals100 and No. 7 overall player from Georgia.
