AUBURN | It was a long ride in the car for Archbishop Carroll (Washington D.C.) four-star offensive tackle Jauan Williams, but he didn't mind.
After visiting Auburn on Sunday, he was already looking forward to doing it again.
"It was like a 12-hour drive, but it was worth it," Williams said. "It was great. I really liked it. I loved every part of it."
Williams, his mother and 2017 teammate, cornerback Deon Jones, spent Sunday in Auburn, a day after the three visited Tuscaloosa.
"The community, the people, the coaches … everything about Auburn was great," Williams said. "My mom, she loved every moment, too."
Williams, 6-foot-6 and 290 pounds, met with Auburn offensive line coach J.B. Grimes, offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and coach Gus Malzahn. He also toured the campus and facilities.
"The coaches are great," he said. "I talked to a lot of them, almost all of them, and they are really great coaches and really great people.
"The atmosphere at Auburn feels like home, and everything that you need is right there. The dorms are incredible. The community, the coaches, everybody is so welcoming and caring. You can be yourself here, and it's a great place to get better."
Williams, the No. 9-ranked tackle, already plans to return.
"I walked around thinking that maybe this could be my home for the next 3-4 years," he said. "I don't have any favorites right now, but Auburn is definitely a school I'll be looking at real close.
"I'm definitely coming back to visit because I loved every second."
So did Jones, the 2017 cornerback with multiple offers including one from Auburn. He, too, was making his first visit to Auburn. And like Williams, he plans to return.
"It was great," Jones said. "I really like their defensive coaches. I think Auburn has something special bringing in Coach (Will) Muschamp and Coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson). I really like those guys a lot.
"I really like it down South. The people at Auburn, I love how they treat you and show you a lot of love. I don't plan to make an early decision. All teams are equal right now."
