Britt commits to Auburn

Auburn has received a commitment from another top linebacker.

K.J. Britt, a four-star recruit from Oxford, Ala., announced Monday that he plans to sign with Auburn.

“I love it at Auburn,” Britt said. “I love everything about Auburn. My family loves Auburn, too. It’s all about family there.”

Britt narrowed his list of offers to four before choosing the Tigers. His other finalists were Georgia, Ole Miss and Stanford.

Britt, who is ranked the No. 5 inside linebacker in the 2017 class, is the third linebacker to commit to Auburn. Outside linebackers Tadarian Moultry and Chandler Wooten both committed to the Tigers in the summer.

Britt has visited Auburn several times since the spring. He’s attended three of Auburn’s home games and plans to return this weekend for an official visit. Britt is familiar and comfortable at Auburn.

Britt, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 220 pounds, also is comfortable with Auburn’s first-year linebackers coach, Travis Williams. The player and coach have developed a strong bond since Britt first saw Williams in action during the spring.

“It's just good seeing a coach fly around,” Britt said of Williams after watching Auburn practice in March. “(Williams) was never still. Him flying around, clapping his hands and being a part of practice.”

Williams’ way of coaching is a method Britt wants to learn under, and now plans to.

“He's just one of the coaches you want coaching you,” Britt said. “He tells you why you messed up, when you're doing good, congratulates you, gives you a pat on the back.”

Britt is Auburn’s 14th commitment in the 2017 class.

Rivals ranks Britt the No. 5 overall player in Alabama.
