AUBURN | Lee-Montgomery wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was in Auburn on Saturday and watched as the Tigers beat Arkansas State, 51-14.

Ruggs wasn’t surprised by the win, nor was he surprised by the Tigers piling up 706 total yards of offense, 244 of which came via the passing game. Auburn receivers coach Kodi Burns informed Buggs before the game to expect the Tigers “to air it out.”

“And they pretty much showed me what he was telling me,” Ruggs said. “They did a really good job.”

Ruggs, a four-star recruit, was impressed with Sean White. The Tigers’ sophomore quarterback completed 17-of-23 passes using 10 different receivers. Four of the receivers were true freshmen, including Kyle Davis, who had a 42-yard, one-handed catch.

“They spread the ball around,” Ruggs said. “And Kyle Davis made a big play. That was a spectacular play, a top-10 catch. That catch is probably No. 1 on my list.”

Ruggs has had Auburn among his leaders since the summer, and continues to have the Tigers near the top following Saturday’s visit.

“It’s eye-opening to see they have a good passing attack,” Ruggs said.
