AUBURN | The majority of recruits in Auburn on Saturday are from the 2016 class, but there were a handful of top underclassmen there, too.
Harding Academy (Memphis, Tenn.) offensive tackle Will Lawrence picked up an offer. It was his 18th offer. He's only a freshman, and he's 6-foot-4 and 275 pounds. Buckhorn (New Market, Ala.) sophomore linebacker Will Ignont also was offered by Auburn.
Here's a look at what Lawrence, Ignont and four other top underclassmen at Junior Day had to say about their visits…
OT Will Lawrence - 2018
Memphis, Tenn. (Harding Academy)
On his visit and picking up an Auburn offer…
"It went great. It was really fun. I had a good time. It was my second visit. I came to the South Carolina game.
"It was great talking to Coach (Gus) Malzahn and Coach (J.B.) Grimes. I really like them a lot. They were very impressive to me, and seem like great coaches.
"Getting the offer just motivates me to keep working harder. I have about 18 others. It's been pretty crazy."
His ideal campus, and his likes about Auburn…
"I'm looking for a family environment, a Christian environment. At Auburn, I like the coaching staff and the campus. It has that family feel. I've been impressed."
LB Will Ignont - 2017
New Market, Ala. (Buckhorn)
On his visit…
"It went great. I got my seventh offer from Coach (Will) Muschamp. He offered me. I love Auburn. I love the family atmosphere. It was just great.
"I didn't come down expecting (to get an offer), but I was hoping to get one. I was real excited when he told me.
It means a lot to me because I grew up an Auburn fan. I'm just blessed, but I have to keep working and just make myself better and my team better."
On Auburn…
"I'm No. 24 now and I love Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown, Carlos Rogers, all of them, and I love watching Cam Newton. I just always liked watching Auburn. There's something about Auburn. I didn't like Alabama when I was growing up.
On the position Auburn is recruiting him to play…
"They are recruiting me as an athlete. I play running back and linebacker. Coach Lashlee told me they were fighting over me, but Coach Muschamp likes me a lot. I think they like me a little bit more on the defensive side of the ball.
"I've been playing running back all my life, but I love playing linebacker so I think I'm going to stick with linebacker. That's what I want to play in college."
OT Austin Troxell - 2017
Madison, Ala. (Madison Academy)
On his visit…
"It went pretty good. The environment here, the coaches here are nice. I just like everything about Auburn."
On growing up an Alabama fan and if Auburn has a legit chance…
"I think so. I'm not going to put anybody out just because I'm a Bama fan. I'm going to go to the best place for me."
On classmate, former teammate, friend and Auburn signee Kerryon Johnson…
"He's just saying don't listen to all these other schools. Alabama will say that, but Auburn is legit and they mean what they say."
On his recruitment…
"(Offers from) Alabama, Auburn and Southern Miss. I'll probably commit (next spring)."
QB Lowell Narcisse - 2017
Saint James, La. (Saint James)
On his visit…
"It was pretty successful. I got a chance to see the facilities, meet the coaches and look around the academic center. I got to look around Auburn for the first time."
On what stood out about the visit…
"Just the way they carried themselves and how they care more about your grades and you get an education first."
On OC/QB coach Rhett Lashlee…
"He's a great coach. He just talked to me about life and not just about coming to Auburn. He talked about how to be a successful man and about my bright future."
On his recruitment…
"(Offers from) LSU, Auburn, Southern Miss, Illinois and Grambling. Auburn offered about two months ago."
On Auburn…
"I fit right into the program. (The offense) maximizes my athletic ability and it gives me a great opportunity to show the talent that I have."
CB T.J. Carter - 2017
Hendersonville, Tenn. (Hendersonville)
On his visit…
"I really enjoyed the visit. It was my first time at Auburn and I really liked the coaches and the environment, just everything about Auburn. I really enjoyed myself."
On his recruitment…
"(Offers from) Kentucky and Tennessee. Auburn is showing me a lot of interest. If Auburn offered, they'd definitely be on my list. I'd like to come back again. I'm looking for the place that best fits me, and I really liked it at Auburn.
"I don't plan to make an early decision. I have plenty of time."
CB Tre Shaw
Ellenwood, Ga. (Cedar Grove)
On his visit…
"I loved every bit of it. Auburn is one of my favorite schools so far. I talked to Coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) and several other coaches."
On Auburn and his recruitment…
"I really like Auburn. My top three are Auburn, Georgia and Florida. All three have offered. I'm coming back in the summer for a camp, and I'll probably come down again in the summer to meet with Coach T-Rob, get some 1-on-1 with him."
