AUBURN, Ala. | Auburn began the week with two defensive tackle commitments. Now, it has none.
Birmingham (Ala.) Wenonah three-star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams de-committed from Auburn on Friday, and did so without offering an explanation.
"Yes," said Williams, when asked if he de-committed.
Williams, 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds, had been committed to Auburn since Jan. 31. He remained satisfied in his decision until last weekend when he attended a multi-day camp at Alabama instead of Auburn's Big Cat Weekend. Williams posted about the visit to Tuscaloosa on his Twitter account, but the tweets since have been deleted.
Williams is Auburn's second three-star defensive tackle commitment this week to visit Alabama and subsequently de-commit. Upson Lee (Thomaston, Ga.) three-star David Marshall visited the Tide on Sunday and de-committed from Auburn on Monday.
Auburn now has six commitments in its 2016 class: Quarterback Woody Barrett, cornerback John Broussard, safety Stephen Davis Jr., tight end Landon Rice, receiver Elijah Stove and linebacker Tre Threat.
Rivals.com ranks Williams the No. 39 defensive tackle in the country and No. 21 player from Alabama.
