Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson's change of venue changed Jeremiah Dinson's future.
Before the two coaches were hired from Florida, Dinson was signing with Kentucky.
Muschamp and Robinson were full at cornerback while at Florida. At Auburn, however, they needed several, and Dinson was one of the first the coaches contacted.
A phone call turned into an official visit, which turned into a change in commitment.
Here is the Signee Profile on Dinson:
WHEN DID AUBURN FIRST BECOME A SERIOUS OPTION FOR YOU? It was in early January. Coach Muschamp and Coach T-Rob had been recruiting me to Florida and I heard they were going to Auburn. When I first heard they were going to Auburn, I just thought it was a great move by them. At the time, I didn't realize how much it would affect me, but I thought it was a good move for those guys.
After Coach T-Rob got to Auburn, he got in touch with my coach and then got in touch with me and told me that I had an offer. Auburn became an option right then, a serious option.
YOU TOOK AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO AUBURN JAN. 23-25. DID YOU KNOW DURING THE VISIT THAT YOU WANTED TO GO TO AUBURN? I was committed to Kentucky and I felt good about it. I really had no intentions to go to Auburn. I just wanted to take another visit so I told them I would. But when I got up there, I fell in love with it. I saw everything, met everyone and just fell in love with it. I was looking at the campus, the football facilities, the school, the academics, and I was talking to one of my good friends, Carlton Davis, and he said he was thinking about making a move (changing commitment from Ohio State to Auburn), and I knew I was thinking about making a move myself.
The moment I knew is probably when my mom started crying when Coach T-Rob was talking to us. Coach T-Rob is from Miami and he went to Auburn so he knows what the transition is like, what it will be like for me. He was talking to us about how he can relate, how he would be there for me and always look out for me. My mom started to cry, and when I saw her cry that gave me a great feeling that Auburn was the right choice for me and my family. She didn't do that on any other visits, but others didn't make her feel that way, either. After that, I knew I was going to Auburn.
WHEN DID YOU INFORM AUBURN OF YOUR COMMITMENT? WAS IT DURING YOUR VISIT? I gave Coach (Gus) Malzahn a hint. Right before I left, I looked at him and told him 'War Eagle.' But before I committed to Auburn, I wanted to call the coaches at Kentucky and thank them for giving me the opportunity. I went home that Sunday and called them that night and de-committed. It was hard because I had been with those guys since the summer, but I just felt Auburn was the right place for me.
Two nights later, I think it was that Tuesday, Coach Malzahn, Coach Muschamp and Coach T-Rob came for an in-home visit and I told them the news. I told them that I was committed, that I was ready to come to Auburn.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS IN 2015? I'm ready to get to Auburn, work hard and do anything and everything I can to help the team win.
WHEN WILL YOU ARRIVE IN AUBURN? I'll be there this Sunday (May 24) and I'll be rooming with Carlton (Davis).
