Glynn Academy (Brunswick, Ga.) junior athlete/receiver Deejay Dallas committed in July to in-state Georgia, but he continues to keep an eye on out-of-state Auburn.
Dallas made the trip to Atlanta on Saturday to attend Auburn's 31-24 win over Louisville.
"It was a good game and a lot of fun to watch," Dallas said. "I thought Auburn looked good."
Dallas wasn't basing his opinion off the stats - it wasn't the best numbers game for Auburn. Quarterback Jeremy Johnson threw three interceptions and the team rushed for just 190 yards. The defense surrendered 24 second-half points.
Still, Dallas saw the potential.
"They did let Louisville battle back, but you could tell Auburn is going to be really good," Dallas said. "They looked to me like they are going to be a really good contender to win the SEC championship."
Dallas, who stands six feet tall and weighs 185 pounds, plans to see Auburn play again this season. Next time, however, it will be inside Jordan-Hare Stadium.
"I want to go to some games at Auburn and see what the Auburn experience is like," Dallas said. "I've heard it is really good."
Dallas will be on the invitation list for the games. Auburn has made it known to Dallas that he is a priority in 2017.
"Auburn is recruiting me hard," Dallas said. "They think I'm a great fit for their offense, that I'd be perfect to run the jet sweep. I definitely want to visit Auburn and see what it's like. I want to learn more about it."
Dallas already knows of a few things/people.
"My favorite football player, Cam Newton, came from Auburn, and Auburn has a lot of tradition," Dallas said. "Tradition is big to me because my high school has a lot of tradition and so does Auburn.
"Also, Auburn has my major, veterinary science, so that is a big plus. Not a lot of schools offer that."
It all could be enough to make Dallas flip his commitment. He feels good about his UGA decision, but he's not done yet with Auburn.
"Whatever happens, happens," Dallas said.
Rivals ranks Dallas the No. 37 player in Georgia.
