Tigers win 8th-straight game

Auburn can play a little baseball away from Plainsman Park.

Playing in their first road game of the season, the 16th-ranked Tigers beat Georgia Tech 7-4 Tuesday night at Russ Chandler Stadium. Auburn's eighth-straight win improves its record to 18-5 on the season.

Auburn had 11 hits including six doubles. Jonah Todd was 2-of-5 with two doubles, one run scored and one RBI. Daniel Robert, Conor Davis and Will Holland also had two hits apiece for the Tigers.

Auburn struck for a run in the third on an RBI double by Todd, two in the fourth on an RBI single by Davis and a Yellow Jacket error, two in the fifth on a two-RBI double by Jay Estes and two in the sixth on an RBI double by Holland, who came around to score on a single by Bowen McGuffin.

Calvin Coker (1-1) earned the win holding Georgia Tech without a hit in 0.2 innings out of the bullpen. Cole Lipscomb earned his team-high fourth save of the season with a perfect ninth.

“Once we got up and worked and played good baseball and got up seven runs, they hit three home runs,” Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said. “No lead is safe here. It’s a very offensive ballpark. This was probably the best offensive club we have faced thus far. You never felt like any lead was safe. Then Cole came in and did a good job there in the ninth.”

Auburn starter Christian Camacho allowed a run on three hits in 4.1 innings, Corey Herndon three runs on two hits in 1.1 innings and Ryan Watson no hits in 1.2 innings.

The Tigers are back in action this weekend for a three-game series at Georgia.
