Tigers SEC Players of Week

Senior cornerback Demond Washington has been named SEC Co-Special Teams Player of the Week and running back Michael Dyer has been named SEC Tri-Freshman of the Week, the Southeastern Conference announced Monday. Both players were honored for their performances during Auburn's 51-31 victory at Ole Miss Saturday.
Washington returned five kickoffs for 176 yards, including a 95-yard return for a touchdown in the second quarter to give Auburn a 31-17 lead. His 176 return yards is third most in a game in school history and his 95-yarder was the second return for a touchdown of his career.

Washington, who also had six tackles and intercepted a pass on defense, broke the Auburn single-season record for kickoff return yardage during the game. He now has 806 yards on 30 returns, breaking the old record of 756 yards set by Tristan Davis in 2006. In just two seasons at Auburn, Washington now has 1,303 career kickoff return yards, which ranks fourth in school history.
Dyer rushed for a career-high 180 yards on 21 carries at Ole Miss, including a 30-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. His 180 yards was the third-best single-game rushing total by a freshman in Auburn history, and most ever by an Auburn freshman against an SEC team.
Dyer, who posted his third 100-yard rushing game of the season and second in a row, now has 723 yards rushing this season, which ranks third by a freshman in Auburn history. He needs just 107 more yards to pass Bo Jackson's Auburn freshman record of 829 yards set in 1982. Dyer is averaging 80.3 rushing yards per game, which ranks fourth nationally among freshmen.
The two honors continued Auburn's streak of receiving at least one SEC Player of the Week award every week this season. Auburn's winners this season include:
