The War Room
The recruiting dead period begins today, June 27, and runs through July 9. On-campus visits and face-to-face contact are prohibited during this time.
Coaches are on vacation; it’s a good time for a reset.
Auburn entered the dead period with some momentum after securing the pledge of Hoover (Ala.) wide receiver Shedrick Jackson on Monday. The Tigers now have seven commitments, a group ranked No. 51 in the country and No. 11 in the SEC.
Seems low, but not to fret. Alabama (54, 12) and Georgia (67, 13) both are ranked lower, as is Missouri (80, 14), and things will change a lot before practice begins in August.
Several of Auburn’s top recruits plan to make commitments in the next 6-8 weeks, including four-star athlete/wide receiver Matthew Hill, three-star cornerback Juanyeh Thomas and four-star athlete/linebacker Richard Jibunor, all of whom appear to have Auburn at the top.
Auburn continues to be in good shape, either with the edge or in the top 2-3, with several top recruits, guys like five-star quarterback Justin Fields (Auburn, FSU, Florida), five-star wide receiver Justyn Ross (Auburn, Alabama, Clemson), Rivals100 linebacker Zakoby McClain (Auburn, LSU), Rivals250 linebacker Michael Harris (Ohio State, Auburn), Rivals250 defensive lineman Coynis Miller (Auburn, Alabama, Florida), Rivals250 running back Asa Martin (Auburn, Alabama, Florida) and three-star defensive end Andres Fox (Auburn, LSU, Alabama).
And don’t forget about junior college offensive tackle Badara Traore. He’ll be on campus in two weeks (July 14-16) for an official visit.
BEST GUESS
Which recruits will sign with Auburn? If Signing Day were today, this is my best guess at several top targets who would sign with Auburn.
