The All-Signee Team: 2002-2014

AUBURN | Signing day and the immediate days after are always a good time to look back at past classes, and that's what this feature is all about.

This is a look back at the top two prospects signed (and arrived to Auburn) at each position since 2002, based on their positional rankings exiting high school or junior college.

Of the 17 positions and 34 players that make up the two-deep, 16 of those players will be on Auburn's roster in 2014.

**The fullback position was excluded from this list.

QUARTERBACK

Cameron Newton - Newton was the nation's No. 1 junior college prospect in the 2010 class and a five-star. During his one season at Auburn, Newton threw for 2,857 yards and 30 touchdowns, while rushing for 1,473 yards and 20 touchdowns. Newton led Auburn to a 14-0 record, a SEC championship, a BCS national championship, and Newton won the Heisman Trophy. Newton was the No. 1 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and has been selected to two Pro Bowls in three pro seasons.

Tyrik Rollison - Rollison was the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback and No. 60 overall prospect in the 2009 class. Rollison redshirted in 2009 before transferring out of the program in February of 2010.

Others of note: Kiehl Frazier was the No. 5 dual-threat quarterback and No. 89 overall prospect in 2011, Jeremy Johnson was the No. 5 pro-style quarterback and No. 93 overall prospect in 2013, Sean White is the No. 4 pro-style quarterback and No. 111 overall prospect in the 2014 class, and Brandon Cox was the No. 9 pro-style quarterback in the 2002 class.

RUNNING BACK

Michael Dyer - Dyer was the No. 2 running back, No. 11 overall prospect in the 2010 class and a five-star. Dyer rushed for 2,335 yards and 15 touchdowns during his freshman and sophomore seasons, including earning BCS National Championship Game MVP honors in Auburn's win over Oregon following the 2010 season. Dyer was released from his scholarship following the 2011 season.

Racean Thomas - Thomas is the nation's No. 2 running back, No. 12 overall prospect in the 2014 class and a five-star. Thomas rushed for 6,169 yards and 82 touchdowns during his high school career that ended in winning Mr. Football for the state of Alabama in 2013.

Others of note: Benjamin Tate was the No. 6 running back and No. 41 overall prospect in the 2006 class, Jovon Robinson was the No. 10 back and No. 136 overall prospect in the 2012 class, Johnathan Ford was the No. 15 back and No. 185 overall prospect in the 2013 class, and Tre Mason was the No. 14 back and No. 199 overall prospect in the 2011 class.

WIDE RECEIVER

D'haquille Williams - Williams is the nation's No. 1 overall junior college prospect in the 2014 class and a five-star. Williams racked up 2,028 yards and 26 touchdowns in two seasons at Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Ben Obomanu - Obomanu was the No. 4 receiver, No. 32 overall prospect in the 2002 class and a five-star. Obomanu appeared in a total of 51 games for the Tigers, starting 23 times. He ranks seventh in school history with 97 receptions and 11th with 1,313 yards receiving. He is second in Auburn history with 18 receiving touchdowns and scored 122 points.

Others of note: Tim Hawthorne was the No. 4 receiver and No. 49 overall prospect in the 2006 class, Devin Aromashodu was the No. 9 receiver and No. 88 overall prospect in the 2002 class, Tony Stevens was the No. 11 receiver and No. 95 overall prospect in the 2013 class, Jaylon Denson was the No. 24 receiver and No. 205 overall prospect in the 2011 class, and Deangelo Benton was a four-star receiver in the 2009 class.

TIGHT END

Ricky Parks - Parks was the No. 2 tight end and No. 123 overall prospect in the 2012 class. Parks redshirted in 2012 and was dismissed from the team prior to the 2013 season. Parks has re-enrolled at Auburn and will go through spring drills in 2014.

Philip Lutzenkirchen - Lutzenkirchen was the No. 3 tight end and No. 172 overall prospect in the 2009 class. Lutzenkirchen played four years and caught 14 career touchdowns (career tight end record) and seven touchdowns in 2011 (single-season tight end record). Lutzenkirchen recorded 628 yards receiving.

Others of note: Bailey Woods was the No. 7 tight end in the 2007 class, and Tommy Trott was the No. 8 tight end in the 2005 class.

OFFENSIVE TACKLE

Greg Robinson - Robinson was the No. 2 tackle and No. 90 overall prospect in the 2011 class. Robinson redshirted in 2011 before starting in 2012 and 2013. Robinson helped pave the way for the most prolific rushing attack in SEC history in 2013, as Auburn rushed for 4,596 yards and 48 touchdowns. Robinson is projected as a top five pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Shon Coleman - Coleman was the No. 3 offensive tackle, No. 22 overall prospect in the 2010 class and a five-star. Coleman was diagnosed with leukemia and delayed enrollment until January of 2011. Coleman was cleared by doctors, redshirted in 2012 and played as a redshirt freshman in 2013. Coleman will battle for a starting position in 2014.

Others of note: Lee Ziemba was the No. 4 tackle and No. 61 overall prospect in the 2007 class, Avery Young was the No. 9 tackle and No. 74 overall prospect in the 2012 class, and Marcus McNeill was the No. 10 tackle in the 2002 class.

OFFENSIVE GUARD

Christian Westerman - Westerman was the No. 3 guard and No. 27 overall prospect in the 2011 class. Westerman redshirted in 2011 and played sparingly in 2012, before transferring to Arizona State.

Braden Smith - Smith is the No. 3 guard and No. 50 overall prospect in the 2014 class. Smith had 82 pancake blocks on offense and 59 tackles on defense. His father played football at Kansas. Smith will enroll in May.

Others of note: Leon Hart was the No. 5 guard and No. 93 overall prospect in the 2004 class, Eric Mack was the No. 6 guard in the 2010 class, and Alex Kozan was the No. 12 guard in the 2012 class.

CENTER

Reese Dismukes - Dismukes was the No. 1 center and No. 79 overall prospect in the 2011 class. Dismukes started his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons, including leading an offensive line that paved the way for 4,596 rushing yards and 48 touchdowns in 2013. Dismukes was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy in 2013, given to the nation's top center.

Ryan Pugh - Pugh was the nation's No. 3 center in the 2007 class. Pugh started 45 games at Auburn, including every game of the Tigers' 2010 BCS national championship season. Pugh was First Team All-SEC, Third Team All-America, and was a Rimington Trophy finalist in 2010.

Others of note: Xavier Dampeer is the nation's No. 1 junior college center in the 2014 class.

INSIDE LINEBACKER

Tre Williams - Williams is the No. 2 inside linebacker, No. 23 overall prospect in the 2014 class and a five-star. Williams made 119 tackles last season and participated in the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge and the Under Armour All-American Game. Williams will enroll in May.

Jake Holland - Holland was the No. 8 inside linebacker in the 2010 class. Holland played four years, tallying 174 career tackles and 9.5 tackles for loss. Holland started.

Others of note: Josh Bynes was the No. 9 inside linebacker in the 2007 class.

OUTSIDE LINEBACKER

Tray Blackmon - Blackmon was the No. 1 outside linebacker, No. 17 overall prospect in the 2005 class and a five-star. Blackmon redshirted in 2005 and tallied 84 career tackles from 2006-2007, battling through injuries and suspensions. Blackmon was Second Team Freshman All-America after the 2006 season.

Kris Frost - Frost was the No. 2 outside linebacker, No. 20 overall prospect in the 2011 class and a five-star. Frost redshirted in 2011 and tallied only five tackles in 2012, before breaking out in 2013 with 59 tackles and six tackles for loss. Frost returns for his junior season in 2014.

Others of note: Ladarius Owens was the No. 8 outside linebacker in the 2010 class, Craig Stevens was the No. 18 outside linebacker in the 2006 class, Cassanova McKinzy was the No. 19 outside linebacker in the 2012 class, and Antonio Coleman was the No. 45 outside linebacker in the 2005 class.

DEFENSIVE TACKLE

Montravius Adams - Adams was the No. 3 tackle, No. 25 overall prospect in the 2013 class and a five-star. Adams notched 20 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, playing in 14 games as a true freshman in 2013. Adams was named Freshman All-SEC.

Greg Smith - Smith was the nation's No. 1 junior college tackle, No. 5 junior college prospect overall in the 2006 class and a five-star. Smith finally showed up to campus late in the summer of 2006. He battled academic and weight problems before ultimately dropping out of school.

Others of note: Jeffrey Whitaker was the No. 5 tackle and No. 54 overall prospect in the 2010 class, Tim Duckworth was the No. 12 tackle in the 2003 class, Gabe Wright was the No. 13 tackle and No. 141 overall prospect in the 2011 class, Dontavius Russell is the No. 13 tackle and No. 204 overall prospect in the 2014 class, Tommy Jackson was the No. 14 tackle in the 2002 class, Pat Sims was the No. 20 tackle in the 2004 class, and Nick Fairley was a three-star tackle in the 2009 class exiting junior college.

WEAKSIDE DEFENSIVE END

Carl Lawson - Lawson was the No. 1 weakside end, No. 4 overall prospect in the 2013 class and a five-star. Lawson is the highest rated prospect to ever sign with Auburn out of high school. Lawson notched 20 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and four sacks as a freshman in 2013. Lawson was honored as Freshman All-America and First Team Freshman All-SEC.

Corey Lemonier - Lemonier was the No. 3 weakside end and No. 35 overall prospect in the 2010 class. Lemonier recorded 98 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and 17 sacks during his three year career. Lemonier was First Team All-SEC after the 2011 season. Lemonier was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 3rd round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Others of note: Bryant Miller was the No. 6 weakside end in the 2006 class, Gabe McKenzie was the No. 8 weakside end in the 2005 class, Cameron Henderson was the No. 9 weakside end in the 2008 class, Justin Thornton is the No. 9 weakside end and No. 131 overall prospect in the 2014 class, Craig Sanders was the No. 12 weakside end and No. 197 overall prospect in the 2010 class, Quentin Groves was the No. 12 weakside end in the 2003 class, and Andrew Williams is the No. 12 weakside end in the 2014 class.

STRONGSIDE END

Raven Gray - Gray was the nation's No. 1 junior college strongside end in the 2008 class and a five-star. Gray signed with Auburn out of Enterprise High School, but failed to make his grades. When he finally qualifies form junior college, Gray struggled through the 2008 season and ultimately left the program without making an impact.

DaVonte Lambert - Lambert is the nation's No. 1 junior college strongside end in the 2014 class. Lambert notched 36 tackles, eight sacks and 14 tackles for loss last fall. Lambert will enroll in May.

Others of note: Elijah Daniel was the No. 8 strongside end and No. 107 overall prospect in the 2013 class, and Stanley McClover was the No. 12 strongside end in the 2003 class.

CORNERBACK

Jonathan Rose - Rose was the No. 7 corner and No. 112 overall prospect in the 2011 class. Rose played sparingly during his true freshman season in 2011 and was dismissed from the team in the summer of 2012. Rose signed with Nebraska and is currently on the Cornhuskers' roster.

Nicholas Ruffin - Ruffin is the No. 11 corner and No. 164 overall prospect in the 2014 class. Ruffin played safety and receiver during his senior season, and was honored as a U.S. Army All-American.

Others of note: Kalvaraz Bessent is the No. 12 corner and No. 165 overall prospect in the 2014 class, Stephen Roberts is the No. 13 corner and No. 170 overall prospect in the 2014 class, Joshua Holsey was the No. 15 corner and No. 180 overall prospect in the 2012 class, Ryan Williams was the No. 23 corner in the 2007 class, and Jermaine Whitehead was the No. 24 corner in the 2011 class.

SAFETY

Derrick Moncrief - Moncrief is the nation's No. 1 junior college safety in the 2014 class. Moncrief recorded 66 tackles and three interceptions in two seasons at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Erique Florence - Florence was the nation's No. 3 safety and No. 69 overall prospect in the 2011 class. Florence made 23 tackles as a true freshman in 2011, but played sparingly in 2012 before being dismissed from the team before spring practice began in 2013.

Others of note: Tony Bell was the nation's No. 3 safety in the 2004 class, Michael McNeil was the nation's No. 8 safety and No. 86 overall prospect in the 2007 class, and Robenson Therezie was the nation's No. 17 safety in the 2011 class.

ATHLETE

Trovon Reed - Reed was the nation's No. 4 athlete and No. 46 overall prospect in the 2010 class. After redshirting in 2011, Reed caught 39 passes for 384 yards and one touchdown in during the last two seasons. Reed reportedly may move to cornerback for the 2014 season.

Montae Pitts - Pitts was the No. 7 athlete and No. 84 overall prospect in the 2002 class. After redshirting in 2002, Pitts recorded 104 career tackles from 2003-2005, including starting at corner for the Tigers' 13-0 SEC championship team in 2004. Pitts was dismissed from the team in the summer of 2006 and transferred to Jacksonville State.

Others of note: Jason Smith was the nation's No. 15 athlete and No. 247 overall prospect in the 2013 class. Smith failed to qualify, but will enroll at Auburn in January of 2015 from junior college.

KICKER

Wes Byrum - Byrum was the nation's No. 2 kicker in the 2007 class. Byrum hit 60 field goals (Auburn record) and 183 extra points (Auburn record) during his career, and is Auburn's all-time leading scorer with 363 points.

Daniel Carlson - Carlson was the nation's No. 4 kicker in the 2013 class. Carlson redshirted in 2013.

Others of note: Cody Parkey was the No. 6 kicker in the 2010 class. Parkey was a three-year starter from 2011-2013.

PUNTER

Jimmy Hutchinson - Hutchinson was the nation's No. 6 kicker in the 2013 class and regarded as the nation's top punter by Kohl's Kicking Academy and Chris Sailer.

Steven Clark - Clark was the No. 20 kicker in the 2010 class. Clark was All-SEC after his sophomore season in 2011 and was a Ray Guy Award semifinalist after his junior season in 2012.
