AUBURN | Auburn coach Bruce Pearl and assistants Harris Adler and Chad Dollar all traveled to Huntsville on Thursday to evaluate Lee combo guard Kobe Brown.

Brown, a sophomore, repaid the visit two days later when and his parents made their first trip to Auburn.

“It was a lot fun,” Brown said. “It was a great visit. They showed me around campus and hen showed me all of the facilities. I had a great time meeting everybody and seeing everything.”

Brown met with Pearl, Adler and Dollar throughout the day. He also had the chance to spend time with his primary recruiter, Chuck Person.

“I’m already pretty close with Coach Person,” Brown said. “I’m pretty close with him and Coach Pearl. They have let me know that I’m a top priority for them.”

The feeling is mutual.

Although Brown doesn’t list any leaders, he already is heavily considering the Tigers.

“I’m keeping my options open,” Brown said. “I’m open to everybody, but I like it at Auburn. I like the campus and how family-oriented it is. I like how the basketball team gets along with each other and also how the players get along with the coaches.”

Brown believes Auburn’s basketball program under Pearl will reach new heights soon. The Tigers’ third-year coach has the No. 1 recruiting class in 2017 and one of the top overall recruits, five-star forward E.J. Montgomery, committed in the 2018 class.

“I like Coach Pearl’s energy and how he coaches,” Brown said. “He definitely has Auburn going in the right direction. He has a major turnaround going on at Auburn.”

Brown, who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 225 pounds, has an offer from Auburn, as well as ones from Florida State, Oklahoma, Kansas State, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Penn State, Xavier, West Virginia and Virginia Tech, among others. He’s also receiving strong interest from several schools, including Kentucky, North Carolina, UCLA, Alabama, Kansas, Texas A&M and UAB.

Brown visited Oklahoma in the summer and Ole Miss on Sept. 16. He is scheduled to visit Kentucky on Saturday, and also plans trips to Tennessee and LSU in the coming weeks.
