McGill-Toolen quarterback Jason Smith will sign with Auburn.
Smith, 6-foot-1, 187 pounds, announced his commitment on Monday during a ceremony at McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, Ala.
Smith committed to the Tigers after narrowing his options to Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He had scholarship offers from his four finalists as well as offers from Arkansas, UAB, Troy and Louisiana Tech. Clemson, Florida State, LSU and North Carolina were also showing interest.
Smith is Auburn's 15th commitment in the 2013 class and second quarterback. Another in-state quarterback, Carver-Montgomery's Jeremy Johnson, committed to the Tigers in May.
As a junior, Smith accounted for more than 2,000 yards of total offense, passing for approximately 1,300 yards and rushing for 700.
Rivals.com rates Smith the state's No. 2 athlete in the 2013 class.
