Seven Tigers named coaches' All-SEC

AUBURN | Auburn landed six players on the coaches’ preseason All-SEC team Thursday including three on the first-team.

Senior offensive guard Alex Kozan. junior defensive end Carl Lawson and junior kicker Daniel Carlson were all named first-team All-SEC. Named to the second-team were junior offensive guard Braden Smith and senior defensive tackle Montravius Adams.

Senior wide receiver Marcus Davis and senior defensive back Rudy Ford were secured third-team honors.

Kozan, who earned a degree in business finance this spring, has started 27 games in his playing career. Injuries have limited Lawson to seven career starts and he enters this season with 5.0 career sacks.

Carlson was a Lou Groza award finalist last season after making 23-of-27 field goals including 4-of-5 from 50 or more yards.

Smith is a returning starter at right guard while Adams has started 23 career games, totaling 12.5 tackles-for-loss and 5.0 sacks.

Davis has 66 catches for 490 yards and three touchdowns in 40 career games. Ford has 24 career starts and has led the team in tackles in each of the last two seasons.

Auburn opens the 2016 season against No. 2 Clemson at Jordan-hare Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT on ESPN.
