Tony Stevens committed to Texas A&M at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, but that pledge didn't last long.
Stevens, a Rivals250 four-star receiver from Orlando, Fla., switched his commitment to Auburn after an official visit this weekend.
"It felt like home; it's a family out here. I committed to Auburn University," Stevens said. "I'm happy I made my decision."
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Stevens is the No. 17 receiver and No. 164 player nationally.
Stevens was recruited to Auburn by new receivers coach Dameyune Craig. The Tigers' new assistant and proximity to home played a role.
"He's a cool guy; he knows how to have fun and knows how to get down to business," Stevens said. "Being closer to home is important, my family can come see me. That's important."
It was Stevens' first trip to Auburn. He toured the campus, Jordan-Hare Stadium, dorms and more. Stevens was also impressed with a distinct Auburn tradition.
"The facilities, their education, the basketball crowd -- if they react like that to a basketball game, how will they react at a football game?
"I didn't know the tradition of throwing toilet paper on trees. That's awesome."
Stevens is Auburn's 16th commitment and said he's finished with the recruiting process. He finished his senior season with 519 yards receiving and seven touchdowns.
