AUBURN, Ala. | The state’s No. 2 wide receiver prospect will visit Auburn on Saturday. Finally.

Henry Ruggs, a four-star recruit from Robert E. Lee in Montgomery, has made two attempts to visit the Plains this spring.

“I just haven’t been able to make it,” Ruggs said. “I haven’t been to Auburn since I went to the Mississippi State game last fall, but I’ll be there Saturday.”

Ruggs’ former high school teammate and future Auburn freshman, Daniel Thomas, also will make the trip. The two are scheduled to leave for Auburn Saturday morning.

“We’ll be there to watch practice,” Ruggs said. “I’m looking forward to getting up there and seeing what all Auburn has to offer.”

Ruggs is being recruited to Auburn by first-year receivers coach Kodi Burns. The two have spoken on the phone, but have yet to meet.

“I’m looking forward to meeting Coach Burns,” Ruggs said. “I want to talk to him and the other coaches. I want to see what they have to offer besides football, too. I want to see the academic side and also how they treat their players.”

The visit will be Ruggs’ fourth of the spring. He previously took trips to Alabama, Florida and Florida State.

“I’m ready to see Auburn now,” Ruggs said. “I want to see all that I can about Auburn.”

Ruggs, who stands six feet tall and weighs 170 pounds, has offers from Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, LSU, Penn State, North Carolina, Michigan and Cal, among many others, but does not list any favorites.

“I don’t have any top schools,” Ruggs said. “I’m still open to everybody.”

Ruggs had 44 receptions for 1,007 yards (22.6 avg.) and 10 touchdowns as a junior. He also returned 10 kickoffs for 298 yards and a score.

Rivals ranks Ruggs the No. 5 overall player from Alabama and No. 29 receiver in the class.
