Rivals250 linebacker names top 6

Markail Benton isn’t marking off any colleges from his list just yet, but the Rivals250 outside linebacker does have a half-dozen favorites.

Benton, from Central High in Phenix City, Ala., released a top six Monday night that includes four SEC schools and a pair from the ACC.

“Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, South Carolina, LSU and Florida State,” Benton said. “Those are my top schools right now.”

Benton has visited each of his top six schools sans LSU, and he’ll visit the Tigers for the first time on Tuesday. Benton visited Auburn over the weekend for A-Day and plans to visit Alabama on Saturday.

“I had a good time at Auburn,” Benton said. “I always do. I got to talk to Coach T-Will (Travis Williams) and that went good. Me and him get along real good. I can call him and ask him anything.”

Benton, who is ranked the No. 14 outside linebacker, does not list a favorite among his top group.

“Everybody is even,” Benton said. “I don’t know when I will make my decision. Not anytime soon.”

Benton, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 225 pounds, recorded 32 tackles, including 21 solos and five tackles-for-loss as a junior.
