AUBURN | Will Richardson has offers from two in-state schools - Georgia and Georgia Southern, and the junior point guard from Liberty County (Ga.) now has his first out-of-state offer.

Richardson, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 170 pounds, added an offer from Auburn on Monday.

“It felt really good,” Richardson said. “Auburn is a great school and Coach (Bruce) Pearl is a great coach.”

Richardson received news of the Auburn offer a day after he had a standout performance at the Tigers’ Elite Camp. Richardson totaled 51 points in two games, doing most of his work with Pearl and Auburn assistant coach Chad Dollar watching from the sideline.

“I thought I did pretty good,” Richardson said.

Richardson’s teammate at Liberty County, Davion Mitchell, thought so, too. Mitchell also was a standout at the camp.

“Will did really good,” Mitchell, who is committed to Auburn, said Sunday. “He stood out to me and showed me something.”

Mitchell had seen it before. He and Richardson helped lead Liberty County to the 2015 AAAA state championship. The two could reunite in college. Mitchell is intent on signing with Auburn and Richardson now has an offer to do the same.

“Davion is a great player. He’s really athletic,” Richardson said. “I’ve been playing with him all of my life and I could definitely see myself playing with him at Auburn.”

Richardson believes the Tigers will be national contenders soon. Mitchell, Austin Wiley and Chuma Okeke combine to form the No. 1-ranked class in 2017.

“Auburn is a lovely school, has a great atmosphere and they obviously have a great coaching staff,” Richardson said. “They also have some really good recruits coming in this year. They’re going to be really good.”

Richardson has visited Auburn on three different occasions. He expects to return for a fourth visit in the fall. He’s comfortable on the Tigers’ campus and continues to build a relationship with Dollar, who joined Pearl’s staff in the offseason and is Richardson's area recruiter.

“I really like Coach Dollar,” Richardson said. “He’s new to Auburn, but I’ve been talking to him and getting to know him. He’s a great coach and has a really good personality.”

Richardson also is receiving interest from Stanford, Arizona State, Florida Gulf Coast and Georgia Tech, among others. He doesn’t have a timetable for a decision.

“Just whenever it feels right for me, my parents and my coaches,” Richardson said.
