AUBURN | Madison (Ala.) Academy four-star running back Malik Miller isn't ready to announce his college choice, but he's close.
"I'm going to announce," Miller said. "I just have to talk to my school administration to set everything up and then I'll let everyone know the official day."
Miller, 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, made the statements following a visit to Auburn on Saturday for Big Cat. He was one of 35 recruits on the Plains for the Tigers' annual event.
"It was a great day," Miller said. "It was my first time doing Big Cat and it was really different. We did a lot of things that I've never done before and I really enjoyed myself. It was a lot of fun."
Miller will visit Florida State next weekend. It will be his last visit before he announces. He has offers from Auburn, Florida State, Alabama, Mississippi State, Georgia, Ole Miss, North Carolina and Vanderbilt, but has narrowed his focus to two.
"It's just Florida State and Auburn, really," Miller said. "I want to go to Florida State next weekend and talk to the coaches and get all my questions answered."
He was able to do that with the Tigers on Saturday. He spoke in-depth with Gus Malzahn and running backs coach Tim Horton, and spent time with freshman running back and former Madison Academy teammate Kerryon Johnson.
"Coach Malzahn thinks I could be one of the better players to come through Auburn if I come in and put in the work," Miller said. "I think he sees a lot in me and has a lot of confidence in me. He likes me at running back, the Roc Thomas-Tre Mason role.
"Kerryon, he's happy here. I don't think he's coming home anytime soon. Outside of Coach Horton, he's probably one of the best recruiters for them."
The three have teamed up to help recruit Miller to Auburn, and so far it appears to be working.
"As far as recruiting, I feel like Auburn has done the best out of all of the schools," Miller said. "Everything has been answered. I know the good, … I know everything about Auburn."
Now he needs to know as much as possible about Florida State before announcing his choice.
"My goal is to sign a multi-million dollar contract in five years," Miller said. "I've disciplined myself. I've trained myself. I've grown up with that pro mentality on and off the field.
"I want to go to the place that I feel will give me the best opportunity to fulfill that goal."
Rivals.com ranks Miller the No. 8 overall recruit in Alabama.
