AUBURN | Auburn had several of the country's top prospects on campus Saturday to attend the Tigers' annual A-Day game, including Madison Academy (Madison, Ala.) four-star athlete/running back Malik Miller and North Gwinnett (Suwanee, Ga.) Rivals250 receiver Josh Imatorbhebhe.
Here is what the pair of four-star prospects had to say following their visits…
Top RB 'very close' after visit
Madison, Ala. (Madison Academy)
On the visit…
"It was a great day. Every time I come to Auburn, I have a great visit and get nothing but the best from Auburn. It was a great game. Lot of offensive powers you could see from the scrimmage. I enjoyed myself."
On his recruitment…
"I'm very close. I have my top three right now. I'll probably release it after the spring once coaches can come and see me. Have to see where everything stands right now. I want to talk with schools a little more."
On Auburn…
"What is not to like about Auburn? I was talking to Coach (Tim) Horton about that. Even if you aren't planning on coming to Auburn, you have to love it here. If you don't like it - there is something wrong with you because there are great people here; the fans, the coaches, the students. I love it here."
What jumped out…
"Nothing jumps out to me anymore because from day one I've been getting the special treatment, feeling a priority. All the coaches speak to me. It's not even a surprise anymore because I know what I'm getting when I come to Auburn."
Final decision…
"I got to make another round of visits to the schools before that."
His relationship with Kerryon Johnson…
"He's laid off me a little bit. He used to be on me really hard. Today he got back on his job, 'Come on man! Do it today! You now you want to do it.'
"We are life friends. We've known each other since we were seven years old. It would be nice to play with a childhood friend, who I already know, who I know how to play with - a guy I've won championships with already."
On RBU at Auburn…
"Auburn's led the nation in rushing I think 16 times. In the past few years they have done it. That sticks out to me because they use running backs and they use them effectively. They utilize them and they pound them, but we still get our touches and our stats."
Atmosphere impresses WR
Suwanee, Ga. (North Gwinnett)
On the atmosphere…
"I've been to a lot of spring games, but the whole place was packed. You would have thought they were playing Alabama or something. It's just great to see that they have a lot of support. People are cheering your names and seeing little kids trying to get autographs. You feel appreciated as a player here."
On the offense…
"I liked it. It fits me as a receiver. They get a lot of balls down field, and the receivers are obviously very skilled to be able to get the ball at the highest point. I like it a lot."
Which Auburn receiver he compares himself to…
"I like Duke Williams, but not as much weight as him. I like how explosive he is and how he attacks the ball."
On Auburn WR coach Dameyune Craig..
"I love Coach Craig. He is probably one of my favorite recruiters. He has a great personality and relates really well to his players. That's a great thing to have. You want to make sure you're playing for love - you want to play for yourself, but you also want to play for the people who you want to make proud. I really like him a lot."
Where does Auburn stands…
"If I were just thinking, Auburn would be one of the first five schools out of my mouth. They are up there."
On his brother who plays for Florida…
"It is cool that he is there, but I like to look at schools individual. You never know what could happen. You have to make a decision based on myself."
On his friendship with AU signee Darius Slayton…
"He just tells me that there is opportunity here. That is one of the reasons why he decided to come here, and that same opportunity is available to me. If I go out and ball and continue to set goals for myself I could be like Duke Williams or Sammie Coates. There is tremendous opportunity."
