AUBURN | Auburn had several of the country's top prospects on campus Saturday to attend the Tigers' annual A-Day game, including a pair of the state's top overall recruits in the 2017 class.
Southside-Gadsden Rivals100 to Watch running back Alaric Williams and Buckorn Rivals100 to Watch linebacker Will Ignont both made the trip to the Plains and had high praise for their visits and the Tigers.
AU on top for RB
Gadsden, Ala. (Southside)
On his visit and AU RB/friend Roc Thomas…
"It was fun. I enjoyed it as usual. It was fun talking to the coaches and then seeing Roc go off. I talked to Roc after the game and he really liked how he played. Coach (Tim) Horton really liked how he played, too."
On bringing his family…
"We got here (Saturday) morning around 10 with my dad, my uncle, brother and sister. It was their first time and they all really, really liked it. My dad has been to Bama with me and he really liked it there, but I think Auburn now is where he really likes. My uncle, I got him around the atmosphere, showed him around and he also really liked it."
On his recruitment…
"Auburn is up there for sure. I'd say Auburn is on top right now, but Bama is right behind them. With Auburn, the coaches and the relationships I already have with them, as well as with (Tyler) Carr and Roc.
"Also, me and Coach Horton have a really, really tight bond. He likes my attitude and my leadership, and I like Coach Horton. He's a great person, a great guy and a good Christian man. He's the type of guy I like to be around.
"I might come back soon, maybe next week."
LB has another 'great' visit
New Market, Ala. (Buckhorn)
On his visit and A-Day…
"It was great. I really enjoyed it. It was my fourth time visiting so I'm really getting a good feel for the whole place. (The A-Day game) was a good game. It was a great game to watch. It wasn't boring. There was always something exciting going on so you had to keep your head up, keep watching the game.
"I talked to Coach (Will) Muschamp, Coach (Lance) Thompson, Coach Horton and Coach (Gus) Malzahn right when I got here. When I talked to Coach Malzan, when I first went in to talk to him we just talked about life. We didn't talk about football. I really enjoyed it. I just had a great time."
On where Auburn stands…
"They are among my tops, my favorites. I really like Auburn a lot. The coaches aren't pressuring me. They are real laid-back, and that's what I really like. Coach Thompson just told me before I left that there was no pressure, but whenever I wanted to jump in the boat and commit that I could at any time. I just like that they aren't putting any pressure on me, but they really like me and want me at the same time.
On making a decision…
"I want to have my decision made this time next year, before my senior season so I don't have to worry about anything and I can just play and make my team better."
