AUBURN | Two of the top cornerback prospects and an inside linebacker in the 2017 class all were in Auburn on Saturday.
McAdory (McCalla, Ala.) athlete/cornerback Malcolm Askew and Archer (Lawrenceville) cornerback Jamyest Williams both made the trip to the Plains to watch the Tigers practice and meet with the coaches. The two have offers from Auburn.
South Gwinnett (Snellville, Ga.) linebacker Malik Robinson received an offer from Auburn on Saturday, and is considering making an early commitment.
Here is what the two 2017 Rivals100 to Watch cornerbacks and the newly-offered linebacker had to say about their day in Auburn...
(NR) ILB Malik Robinson
Snellville, Ga. (South Gwinnett)
On his visit…
"It went well. I really like Auburn University. It was my first visit here and I really liked it."
On receiving an offer from Auburn…
"It felt great. That's my first offer so it's exciting. Coach (Lance) Thompson called me and my coach into his office and told us. It's a blessing to get an offer from Auburn University. It's a big deal to me."
On if he considered committing…
"I did, and I still am. I'm thinking about committing. I really like it at Auburn University."
McCalla, Ala. (McAdory)
On his visit…
"It went great. I talked to Coach (Will) Muschamp, Coach (Rodney) Garner and Coach Lance Thompson. They said they really want me and know I could play anywhere on the field. They tell me whatever I want to play I can play it."
On watching practice…
"It was great. I talked to (Auburn quarterback) Jeremy Johnson, (running back) Roc Thomas from Oxford…I know he's a great back. And I like how Jovon (Robinson) ran. He ran real good … he's good.
On teammate/friend Jay Jones picking up an AU offer…
"That was great. We now have offers from Auburn and Alabama. We have been going on recruiting trips together, and we might go to the same college. We have talked about it a lot so it could happen."
Where Auburn stands…
"They are up there. They are an in-state school and I really like the in-state schools. Growing up I pulled for Auburn, but then I went to camps at Alabama and it's 25 minutes from my house, so I'm really a fan of both now."
Lawrenceville, Ga. (Archer)
On watching practice…
"(The coaches) are aggressive to the players, and they show emotion to the players. Coach T. Rob (Travaris Robinson) told me he is just trying to get their technique down and get them to master their game."
On his recruitment…
"I still have to take my visits. It's a process. I'm still young in the process. I'm taking my time. I'm not going to say I have a favorite school right now."
On Auburn and Robinson…
"It's a great school. It's an SEC school. T-Rob has a lot of connections to the NFL and the next level. He wants to better my future, too. We talked about that in the office. He wants to better my future and my education. He wants to build a relationship with my parents, and he wants to be there for me.
"T-Rob is a different kind of guy. He didn't compare me to anyone else. He wants to build you as a player."
