AUBURN | Auburn played host Saturday to dozens of recruits already with high rankings from Rivals, but there were others on campus that Rivals has yet to evaluate and rank.
Austin (Decatur, Ala.) offensive guard Deonte Brown, Carrollton (Ga.) defensive end Michael Boykin, B.E.S.T. Academy (Atlanta, Ga.) tight end Robert Tucker and Father Ryan (Nashville, Tenn.) receiver Bryce Vickers, all "Not Ranked" (NR) by Rivals, were in Auburn for the Tigers' Junior Day.
Here's a look at what each had to say …
(NR) OG Deonte Brown
Decatur, Ala. (Austin)
On his visit…
"I enjoyed it very much. I really liked all the scenery and all the athletic facilities. I really enjoyed the way their school is, and just seeing the facilities and the coaches, how relaxed they were and stuff. It's a very nice campus and I could see myself going here."
On an Auburn offer…
"No (offer). (AU OL coach J.B. Grimes) wants to see how I develop more in my body and things. He really likes me and he's very fond of me. (Offers from) Alabama, Clemson, Louisville, Tennessee, Troy and Mississippi State.
On his recruitment…
"I'll be here for the A-Day game and I might be back for one of the practices."
(NR) DE Michael Boykin
Carrollton, Ga. (Carrollton)
On his visit…
"It was a fun experience. It's everything that I would want in a school."
On an offer…
"(No offer), but they talked about how they have a lot of guys going in the draft next year. They're losing a lot of seniors. They're going to sign eight defensive tackles, defensive ends to come play for them."
On Auburn…
"It's a great place and all the people are great. They're definitely going to be in my top five when I narrow my decision."
(NR) TE Robert Tucker
Atlanta, Ga. (B.E.S.T. Academy)
On his visit…
"It went good. I really like the atmosphere and the school. I really like everything."
On an offer…
"I talked to Coach (Scott) Fountain. They didn't say anything about an offer. They are just recruiting me right now, and might offer later.
"Auburn is a school I would wait for. I really like it. I like what they do with their tight ends and H-backs. I'm going to come back for a spring practice and maybe for a camp."
(NR) WR Bryce Vickers
Nashville, Tenn. (Father Ryan)
On his visit…
"This is my third time to visit Auburn and everything went really well. I really enjoyed my time here. I really like the coaches, how they carry themselves and how their program is."
On his recruitment…
"I haven't picked up my first offer, yet, but I'm going to some camps this summer. I plan on coming back to Auburn."
