BALTIMORE, Md. | Elijah StoveClick [rl]Here to view this Link. is on the cusp of being a five-star. The Auburn commitment went into Saturday's Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge hoping to earn that bump up.
But circumstances prevented him from showing out like he wanted when he was sidelined with an ankle injury during 1-on-1's and was unable to participate in the 7-on-7 portion of the event.
"It's going to be good. They said it was just a mild sprain," Stove said. "I was trying to get the fifth star but it's fine."
Of course, Stove will have plenty more opportunities to move up. There will be other camps this summer, his senior season and all-star games.
And it's not out of the question he's already done enough. Stove was a standout during 1-on-1's and is already ranked the nation's No. 5 wide receiver and No. 29 overall prospect.
Rivals.com rated Stove the 16th-best offensive performer at the Five-Star Challenge.
"It's a blessing to be here," he said. "It's a good opportunity to be playing against the people I'll be playing against and with in college. Going against top players helps you improve a lot."
Stove, 6-foot and 177 pounds, committed to Auburn during Big Cat May 30.
He had 54 receptions for 719 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior at Niceville (Fla.) High School. He also had 30 carries for 325 yards and two touchdowns.
