AUBURN | One of Auburn's emerging 2016 targets was on campus last week for an unofficial visit, and should the Tigers extend an offer he'd likely be back a lot more.
Anfernee McLemore, a three-star power forward from Worth County High in Sylvester, Ga., made the half-day trip on June 22.
"Coach (Todd) Golden showed me around campus and I also talked to Coach (Bruce) Pearl," McLemore said. "I enjoyed the campus a lot. I had a really good time."
McLemore, 6-foot-7 and 205 pounds, doesn't have an offer from Auburn, but spoke to Pearl about the possibility of that changing. McLemore would like the opportunity to play for the Tigers' second-year coach.
"He's an excellent coach," McLemore said. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to just be recruited by him and possibly play for him."
Should the offer come, McLemore isn't sure he'd be able to turn it down.
"They want to watch me this month and then they might offer after that," he said. "If they offered that would be big time. I would be very excited. They are already one of my top schools."
McLemore lists Auburn, Brown, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State and Oregon State as his top group. He has interest from Auburn and Georgia Tech, and offers from Brown, Oklahoma State and Oregon State. McLemore also has offers from South Carolina, Tulsa, College of Charleston, Wofford, UNC-Asheville, Tennessee Tech, Rhode Island and South Alabama, and interest from Vanderbilt.
"I'll probably take my visits in September and October and sign in November," he said.
McLemore averaged 19.0 points, 11.8 rebounds and 6.4 blocks per game last season as a junior.
