AUBURN | Hoover’s Shedrick Jackson took and official visit to Auburn over the weekend.

It was Jackson’s first official visit and also his last.

“I’m done,” Jackson said.

The Auburn wide receiver commitment will sign with the Tigers on Dec. 20, the first day of the early signing period, and enroll in January.

Jackson was one of eight recruits in Auburn on official visits. He had visited Auburn several times before, but none measured up to this visit.

“It was great,” Jackson said.

The highlight of the weekend came Saturday as Auburn knocked off No. 1 Alabama, 26-14.

“There is nothing like it,” Jackson said. “I thought the Georgia game was crazy, but the Alabama game was on another level. It was crazy.”

It also was a first for Jackson.

“I’ve never been in the stadium when we beat Alabama before,” Jackson said. “And we rushed the field after and that was a really good experience.”

Jackson met several of the other recruits at the game, including new wide receiver commit Seth Williams and fellow in-state wide receiver Justyn Ross.

“I talked to Seth and got to know him a little more,” Jackson said. “It was good to get (his commitment on Thanksgiving), and we want to get Justyn Ross, too. If we get him that would be a big deal.”

With his official visit over, Jackson will focus on finishing his high school career with a state championship. Hoover will play McGill-Toolen in the Class 7A state title game Dec. 6.

Jackson, who is ranked the No. 14 player in Alabama, has 37 receptions for 768 yards and six touchdowns this season.
