IMG Academy’s Tre McKitty will visit Auburn this spring, and the visit could come sooner than later.

McKitty, who is ranked the No. 11 tight end in the 2017 class, expects to visit the Plains within the next few weeks.

“It might be this weekend,” McKitty said. “I’ll have to talk to my dad, but if it’s not this weekend, it will be really soon.”

McKitty already has visited Auburn. The former Miami commitment was on the Tigers’ campus last summer and liked what he saw. It’s one of the reasons McKitty is returning.

“Auburn is a school that I really like,” McKitty said. “The campus is beautiful. I like the tradition at Auburn and I have great relationships with the coaches.”

Auburn tight ends coach Scott Fountain, area recruiter Tim Horton and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee all are recruiting McKitty to Auburn.

“They are great people and coaches,” McKitty said. “They really want me. They like my playing ability, how hard I play and they like how many different ways they could use me in their offense.”

McKitty is interested in majoring in aviation in college, which is an advantage for the Tigers.

“Auburn offers aviation and not many schools do,” McKitty said. “I’m really interested in that.”

McKitty, who attended high school in Tampa, Fla. before transferring to IMG in Bradenton, doesn’t plan to narrow his long list of offers. Not anytime soon, at least. When he does, Auburn could make the cut.

“I don’t really have a list of top schools,” McKitty said. “But Auburn would definitely be up there.”

McKitty also plans to visit Tennessee and North Carolina this spring. Trips to Oregon and Arizona are also possibilities.

“I’m going to make a commitment after I take all of my official visits,” McKitty said.
