Moseley takes charge

AUBURN -- Gene Chizik said earlier this week that he wanted to establish a run-game identity.

Now he's changing his pass-game identity as well.

Junior Clint Moseley has been named the Tigers' starting quarterback for the team's game at Ole Miss this weekend. Sophomore Kiehl Frazier has started all five games this season, but was benched at halftime last week in what Chizik said was a search for a spark.

Apparently, that search is over - for now.

Moseley competed 13 of his 21 passes last weekend for 163 yards, but was intercepted twice in the end zone during the fourth quarter. Both throws were high-risk attempts in desperate situations, which coaches considered when evaluating Moseley's overall performance.

Auburn's initial plan was to give Frazier an opportunity to regain the starting job this weekend, but Moseley emerged as a better option due to his performance in practice Tuesday and Wednesday. Moseley has been told this isn't a provisional opportunity, meaning a strong performance in Oxford will allow him to solidify his hold on the job.

Moseley was at his best last season against the Rebels in Auburn's 41-23 win. The junior, in his second start, was 12-of-15 for 160 yards and four touchdowns.

Freshman Jonathan Wallace will continue in his role as Auburn's top choice in Wildcat sets.
