Auburn senior tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen has accepted an invitation to the 2013 Under Armour Senior Bowl. The game will be played on January 26 at 3 p.m. CT in Mobile, Ala.
Lutzenkirchen finished the 2012 season with 139 yards on 15 catches, including a season high 71 yards receiving against Clemson in the season opener.
Lutzenkirchen missed the final six games of the season due to a torn labrum in his left hip. Lutzenkirchen battled through the pain of the injury he suffered earlier in the season.
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Lutzenkirchen is expected to travel to Mobile to participate in practice and take part in interviews and meetings with NFL scouts and coaches.
Lutzenkirchen isn't expected to play in the game as he rehabilitates and will be in California for the next month preparing for the week of practice and the NFL Draft in April.
The Marietta, Georgia native finished his Auburn career with 59 catches for 628 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. His career touchdown total is an Auburn career record, and his seven touchdowns in 2011 is an Auburn single season record for a tight end. Lutzenkirchen caught three game winning touchdowns against South Carolina in 2010 and 2011, and against Alabama in 2010.
Lutzenkirchen was AP Second Team All-SEC and Coaches' All-SEC Second Team in 2011.
