AUBURN | Rivals250 cornerback John Broussard had visited Auburn several times, but none compared to his official visit for the Iron Bowl.
"It was real fun," Broussard said. "I got to hang with the players overnight and was able to chill with them all day. That was real fun."
So was the game.
Broussard, from Cental-Phenix City, arrived in Auburn on Friday and attended the Auburn-Alabama game on Saturday.
"The atmosphere was just great," Broussard said. "The game was real live. I felt the passion of the guys. They were real fired up about it."
Auburn had a 6-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, but managed to score only a touchdown the final three periods as the Tigers lost to the Tide, 29-13.
"The game was great," Broussard said. "There were just a couple of miscues, but I thought the defense played great in the first half. They really stepped it up late in the season and that's going to continue into the spring."
Broussard's player host was transfer cornerback Jamel Dean. He also spent time with five-star linebacker Ben Davis, who attended the game on an unofficial visit. Davis is the son of Wayne Davis, Alabama's all-time leading tackler, but Broussard and Auburn haven't conceded him to the Tide.
"I talked to Ben a lot and I know he loved it," Broussard said. "Me and him sat down and had a real good talk. We talked about who was committed and who else we were going to get."
Broussard's visit for the Iron Bowl will be his last visit to Auburn. The next time he returns to the Tigers' campus - which he expects to be in January - he'll have his personal belongings with him. All of them.
"I'll be moving in and enrolling," he said.
Rivals ranks Broussard the No. 198 overall player in 2016 and the No. 6 player from Alabama. Broussard finished his senior season with 35 tackles, including 23 solos, and one interception.
Broussard is one of 10 Auburn commitments that plan to enroll in January.
