Langham visits Auburn, talks finalists, upcoming decision

AUBURN | Malik Langham has a decision to make, and he’s one step closer to making it.

The four-star defensive end from Lee-Huntsville took his final official visit this weekend when he and his parents traveled to Auburn.

“The visit went good,” Langham said. “Just being here and talking to all the coaches and players and seeing everything Auburn, it meant a lot to me. I always dreamed about coming and visiting Auburn so having a chance to do it means a lot.”

Langham spent a lot of time with Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner, area recruiter Tim Horton, defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and head coach Gus Malzahn. His player host was sophomore linebacker Chandler Wooten.

Langham plans to announce his college choice on Wednesday, the first day of the signing period. He will choose Auburn, Alabama or Florida.

“I’ll go home and watch the Super Bowl today, talk it over with my family (Monday) and decide what is the best place for us,” Langham said.

Langham hopes to know Monday night which school he’ll sign with on Wednesday.

“I’ll tell the coaches as soon as possible,” Langham said. “If I know Monday night, I’ll give them a call and tell them.”

Langham said he has several reasons for having Auburn, Alabama and Florida as his final options.

“Everything stands out about Alabama,” Langham said. “They are a championship team. I have great relationships with their coaches, Coach (Karl) Dunbar and coach (Tosh) Lupoi. It’s close to home. It’s an in-state school and it’s the focal point of college football.

“With Florida, it’s Florida. You can’t go wrong in the Sunshine State. Me and Coach Dan Mullen had a good relationship when he was at Mississippi State. Coach (Billy) Gonzales, too. And Coach Sal (Sunseri), who would be my d-line coach if I choose to go there, we have a really good relationship.

“With Auburn, it’s a home atmosphere. That’s the main thing. And coach Garner puts d-linemen in the league.”

Langham’s decision will come down to “where I could see myself for the next 3-5 years.”

Langham is set to announce his choice Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
