Tyree Owens camped at Auburn in the summer to earn an offer. Now Owens, a defensive lineman from Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss., will return to Auburn this weekend, but for a different reason.

“I’m coming back for an official visit,” Owens said.

Owens and his mother, Hakim Dupree, are set to arrive in Auburn on Friday and stay until Sunday.

“I’m definitely looking forward to it,” Owens said. “I’m excited to see what’s going on with the program, to see them play and see how the coaches coach.”

Owens has been in contact with Rodney Garner. Auburn’s defensive line coach offered Owens after an impressive performance at the summer camp.

“I’m looking forward to getting some one-on-one time with Coach Garner,” Owens said. “We’ve been talking and building a relationship so it’ll be good to see him again.”

The visit to Auburn will be Owens’ second official visit. He took an official visit to Kentucky last weekend and has another set to Texas A&M the weekend of Oct. 7-9. Owens also is considering visits to Mississippi State, USC and Alabama.

“I’ll make my decision after I take all my visits,” Owens said.

Owens, who is listed at 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds, signed with West Virginia in 2014. He redshirted his first season at WVU, but was dismissed from the team for violation of team rules.

The former three-star recruit from Oviedo, Fla., has spent the past two seasons at Copiah-Lincoln and is scheduled to graduate in December. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
