JUCO DB commits

Auburn grabbed their third commitment for 2015 when Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College defensive back Tony BridgesClick Here to view this Link. committed to Auburn on Monday.

Bridges is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound corner originally from Hattiesburg, Miss., and former teammates with 2014 Auburn signees, four-star Derrick Moncrief and five-star D'haquille Williams.

MGCCC head coach Chad Huff was the offensive coordinator for the Bulldogs last season, coaching and watching Williams up close and personal. Huff also watched Bridges compete with Williams every single day in practice.

Williams was the nation's No. 1 junior college prospect and Huff believes Bridges is the defensive equivalent of Williams in 2015.

"He has tremendous ball skills, he can run, he's very physical and a strong kid. He's a very dynamic player," Huff said. "He starts on the basketball team, he's so athletic. He has great work ethic and is very dedicated to his craft. He's a special kid and very coachable.

"He loves to compete. He and D'haquille used to compete all the time in practice. One wouldn't go without the other. I put Tony right there with D'haquille, what he brought to the table at receiver, Tony brings that to the table at corner.

"I thought they matched up really well. There were times when D'haquille would win and there were times when Tony would win. They measure pretty evenly as far as speed and athleticism. To me, there's only one D'haquille, but Tony is as talented and gifted as he is. I feel like Tony has the chance to be the number one player for his position next year."

Bridges also holds offers from Ole Miss and Miss. State.

Bridges was a part-time starter as a freshman in 2013, totaling 28 tackles, two pass breakups and a forced fumble. He also served as the Bulldogs' primary kickoff and punt return man, averaging 29.7 yards on kickoff returns.

Bridges is scheduled to graduate in December of 2014 and enroll in January of 2015.

Bridges projects as the top junior college cornerback for 2015. Brides also plays basketball at MGCCC, averaging 7.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Bridges scored 26 points in a loss to Southwest Mississippi Community College on Feb. 3.
