AUBURN | Alec Jackson returned to Auburn this weekend for an official visit; the first visit since he committed to the Tigers on Christmas Day.

Jackson, a defensive lineman from Jeff Davis, admitted the feeling wasn’t the same as previous visits.

“It felt real different,” Jackson said. “I went deeper into the campus and saw all the things Auburn has to offer. I had a great time. It felt like I was at home.”

Jackson spent the weekend meeting with the coaches and many of his future teammates. He spoke extensively with defensive line coach Rodney Garner, who also was Jackson’s lead recruiter, and visited with Gus Malzahn on Saturday at the coach’s home.

“I chilled with the players and met some guys I hadn’t met before,” Jackson said. “It was like a big meet-and-greet. They welcomed me with open arms. We had a lot of fun. We went fishing, went to the new game room and it was amazing.”

Jackson played defensive end in high school, but could project at tackle in college. He and Garner, along with defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, talked about Jackson’s future during the visit.

“They said that I could play end or tackle, that I’m a real versatile guy,” Jackson said.

Jackson doesn’t have a position preference; he’s just glad to be on the brink of living out his dream.

“I have always wanted to play for Auburn,” Jackson said. “It’s been a dream of mine and now my dream is almost coming true. It’s overwhelming.”

The visit made the dream seem more a reality.

“It was a great experience,” Jackson said. “I knew that I would have a good time, but I ended up having a fantastic time.”

Jackson is considering visiting Ole Miss Jan. 20-22, but has no intentions of rescinding his commitment to Auburn.
