In-state G sets visit to Auburn

Sacred Heart guard Diante Wood will take an official visit to Auburn in November.

Wood, who also has visits scheduled to South Florida and Colorado State, will be in Auburn Nov. 24-26, which is the weekend of the Iron Bowl.

“I set it up (Tuesday) night,” Wood said. “I set it up with Coach Chuck (Person). They’re in Italy, but we were texting back and forth.”

Wood and Person have developed a strong bond since the Tigers’ associate head coach began recruiting Wood. He also has been a frequent visitor to Auburn, most recently attending in June for Person’s Shooting Camp.

“He’s cool,” Wood said of Person. “I like his personality. We get along real well.”

Wood will visit South Florida Sept. 1-3 and Colorado State Aug. 25-27, and is considering visits to Alabama, Wichita State and “maybe” UAB. He doesn’t list any favorites at this time.

“Coach Person wants me to be a part of their (2018) class,” Wood said. “Auburn is a great school, and they have been on me for a long time now.”

Wood plans to make his college choice later in the year.

“Probably in December,” Wood said.
