In-state DB 'loves' Auburn visit

AUBURN | Daphne defensive back Christian Williams visited Auburn for the first time last Saturday, and he’s already planning to return.

“I loved it. I really, really loved it,” Williams said. “I loved the coaches, their personalities and how they get to know their players. It’s not a business with them, but they want you to get the most out of Auburn, get the most out of yourself and get a degree.”

Williams met with new Auburn assistant Marcus Woodson and area recruiter Travis Williams during his visit. Christian Williams already was familiar with Woodson.

“I kept in touch with him when he was at Memphis,” Christian Williams said. “He’s really good. I really like him.”

Woodson and Auburn offered Christian Williams in January.

“It was unbelievable,” he said. “I was really excited and amazed it happened.”

The in-state cornerback lists Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee as three of his top schools, but doesn’t list a leader among the group.

“I grew up an Alabama fan, but I’m not biased,” Williams said. “I’ll definitely be back to Auburn. I really like it.”

Rivals ranks Williams the No. 25 player in the state in 2019.
