Jones, 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, is traveling to Athens, Ga. to attend the Bulldogs' Junior Day. He hopes it's as rewarding as his last Junior Day.
"Alabama offered two weeks ago at their Junior Day," Jones said. "I was in Nick Saban's office and he offered me himself. He said he would love for me to be at Alabama, and that he was offering me a scholarship.
"I was surprised. It caught me off-guard a tad, but I'm excited about it because the coaches, especially coach Mario Cristobal, have really been in contact with me since. I can tell they really like me and they really want me."
Alabama isn't the only one. Jones also has offers from Southern Miss, South Alabama and Jacksonville State, and is receiving heavy interest from Ohio State, Mississippi State, Florida, Georgia, Missouri and South Carolina, among others.
"I talked to Ohio State Wednesday night and they are very interested," Jones said. "They were talking about offering really soon, maybe next week."
An offer from the national champions would put the Buckeyes instantly in contention for Jones.
"If Ohio State offered, it would be a big deal," he said. "The Alabama offer is very welcoming and tempting. I would love to play at Alabama, but I would love to get an Ohio State offer because I would like to have something to compete with the Alabama offer."

Spanish Fort (Ala.) four-star linebacker Tre Threat will visit Auburn on Saturday.
Threat, 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds, previously planned to be in Auburn on Sunday, but now will be able to make it a day earlier.
"They backed my baseball game up to 7 p.m.," Threat said via text message. "(Saturday) we're going to head up (to Auburn). We're just going to leave early."
Threat claims offers from Clemson, Louisville, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He's also receiving interest from Auburn, Arkansas, Alabama, Miami, UCLA and South Alabama, among others.
"An offer from Auburn would definitely impact my recruiting process," Threat said Wednesday. "I've always been a fan of Auburn so an offer from them would be a dream come true, a big one."
Rivals.com ranks Threat the state's No. 10 overall prospect and the nation's No. 10 inside linebacker recruit.
