Many close to Auburn (Ala.) High linebacker Reuben Foster speculated he would switch his commitment from Alabama sooner than later.
The biggest unknown was whether it would be to Auburn or Georgia.
That question was answered on Thursday.
Foster, the five-star linebacker and No. 2 overall prospect, announced he now plans to sign with Auburn.
Foster, 6-foot-2, 230 pounds, made his decision known while reading a statement at Auburn High School's cafeteria.
"Over the last several weeks, I've really put a lot of thought and time into where I want to go to continue my football career," Foster said. "I am blessed that I have the situation where I have several great opportunities and I appreciate everyone that attended this and who has helped me get to this point.
"I want to make an announcement so I can put this behind me and get to work on what I need to do to prepare for college both academically and athletically.
"I am going to enroll at Auburn University."
Foster transferred to Auburn High from Troup High in LaGrange, Ga. in the spring and has since been a regular visitor to Auburn University's campus.
"I have a lot of respect for Alabama, the coaches, and all of the people there and the fans, but at the end of the day I feel like Auburn University is the best place for me and my family," said Foster. "I am 100 percent confident with my final decision.
"I feel great about my decision and I'm excited to get started. Again, I want to thank everyone who attended this press conference and took an interest in me and my family. Thank you, God Bless."
As a junior, Foster recorded 185 tackles and 14 sacks leading Troup to a 9-3 record and a trip to the second round of the Georgia Class AAA playoffs. The two years prior, Foster had 112 tackles as a sophomore and 110 as a freshman.
Foster is Auburn's 16th commitment in the 2013 class and third five-star prospect for the Tigers. Five-star defensive linemen Carl Lawson and Dee Liner are also planning to sign with Auburn.
Foster is the Tigers' fourth linebacker commitment joining fellow Rivals100 backer Trey Johnson and three-stars Cameron Toney and Jarrad Davis.
Foster gives Auburn the top two-ranked prospects from Alabama committed and the state's only two five-star recruits.
Rivals.com ranks Foster the nation's No. 1 inside linebacker.
