Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College running back Tyren Jones will be in an awkward situation on Saturday.
The former Alabama back will attend the Iron Bowl in Auburn, and he'll do so as a guest of Auburn.
"I'm excited about the game," Jones said. "It's going to be a good game. I've already gotten the message that if I'm on Auburn's sidelines that I can't pull for the other team."
That shouldn't be a problem for Jones.
"I'm going for Auburn," he said. "I want my boys up there (at Alabama) to play good, but I'm pulling for Auburn to win. It's going to be a good game so I'm excited to get to be there and see it."
Jones signed with Alabama in 2013 out of Walton High in Marietta, Ga. He spent two seasons in Tuscaloosa before being dismissed for violation of team rules.
The former Rivals100 recruit spent the 2015 season at Hutchinson where he rushed for 658 yards and five touchdowns 106 carries.
Jones, who is listed at six-feet tall and 221 pounds on the Hutchinson roster, is scheduled to graduate in December with two years of eligibility remaining.
Auburn could be an option for Jones.
"They haven't offered, but they've been showing interest," Jones said. "They want me to come down to the game. It will be an unofficial visit, so I'll just go to the game and talk to the coaches. They want to talk, ask me questions and see what's my situation."
Jones currently lists offers from Tulane, Temple and Louisiana-Monroe, and is receiving interest from Auburn, Mississippi State and Texas A&M.
"Of course I want to get back to the SEC," Jones said. "I really just want to make the best decision for me."
That could be Auburn. Jones knows several current players from the Marietta area, including safety Tray Matthews, running back Peyton Barber, defensive end Carl Lawson and even former Auburn running back Brad Lester.
"I'm looking forward to seeing those guys again," Jones said. "It should be a lot of fun."
