Former 4-star commits to AU

Former four-star shooting guard K.T. Harrell has committed to Auburn and head basketball coach Tony Barbee.
Harrell, 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, informed Barbee of the news on Tuesday.
"I committed to Auburn," said Harrell. "It feels good. I am really looking forward to being closer to home and being a Tiger."
Harrell originally signed with Virginia out of Brewbaker Tech (Montgomery, Ala.) in 2010. He was ranked the No. 6 shooting guard and No. 30 overall prospect in the 2010 class.
Harrell played in all of Virginia's first 11 games this past season and started the first five. He averaged 4.7 points and 1.0 rebound per game before leaving Virginia. Harrell confirmed that Tulane and Florida were both showing heavy interest in his services also.
"I've been working out here at home, and have decided that Auburn is the best fit for me," said Harrell. "I'm excited about going to Auburn."
Harrell said he would most likely enroll at Auburn in the summer.
"I will have to sit out the 2012 season and then have two years of eligibility after that," he said.
Harrell's former high school coach at Brewbaker Tech, Chauncey Shines, is of the firm belief that Auburn is getting a special talent in Harrell.
"They couldn't have done any better, there's no way around it, he's one of the best basketball players that's going to put on an Auburn jersey," Shines said. "I really feel like they couldn't have done any better."
Shines says Harrell has the skill-set to play anywhere from the one to the four position on the basketball court, but shooting-guard fits him the best and Harrell will translate well into Tony Barbee's offense.
"The dribble drive, he just does everything so well," Shines said. "He can shoot outside. I think it's a perfect fit for K.T. and it's a benefit for Auburn who can score for Auburn. He can score the basketball. He drives, he shoots, but most importantly is his mid-range game.
The return home for Harrell is an exciting prospect for Shines who can't wait to go watch his former player in action at Auburn Arena.
"It's going to be a treat," he said.
